"Strong Quest" Takuya Nomura is steadily taking steps to become "The Strongest Champion of Reiwa"
Despite his four years of career, Nomura is proud of his fearless fight. Yuji Okabayashi says, "Usually, you can't compete with your seniors, but Nomura comes in without batting an eyelid. That's why it's going to be an intense match with this asshole!". Seiji Takeda, who Nomura won the Capture International championship from said laughing and praising Nomura, "The gap between what you would expect is really amazing."
Even though he still has the gentle appearance of being mistaken for a Junior High School student, Nomura changes suddenly as soon as he gets into the ring and it is no wonder that he has the nickname, "The Babyfaced Assassin". "Just one match in May", he said in just a few words. The current situation, which is limited to non spectator matches, he says "There is not enough fighting, and I get stressed". With an unusually tough look he added, "However, I am thinking postively, I'm working on my body and doing things that I don't normally do". He is devising a training plan, and using a Kositi.
A Kositi is a wooden club shaped training device that originated in India and Iran. In Japan, the "God of Professional Wrestling", Karl Gotch made its use famous and it is said that he told Antonio Inoko that, "this is one of the symbols of strong style."
By holding the unique shape of the Kositi in your hand and turning it, you can strengthen your grip, arms, wrists and shoulders, and increase the flexibility of your shoulder joints.
Nomura uses plastic bottles as a substitute; first he started with 500ml, and once he got used to it, stepped it up to 1ml, then 1.5ml and then 2ml.
"It was harder than it looked, and at first I couldn't do it well, but now I think I can do it. At home if it slips, then I will break the TV or the windows. I can do it more intensity at the dojo or at the gym. It's different from the muscle pain that is usually caused, it's training like never before." Enthusiastically he said, "I want to try the real Kositi one day."
Osamu Kido, who Gotch called "my son", continues to train even after retirement on the roof of his mansion in Yokosuka, Kanagawa where he gains a tan and practises with Kositi. If he has the opportunity, he may want to ask Mr. Kido for Kositi guidance.
26 year old Nomura has repeatedly reviewed Inoki's DVDs and photobooks during "STAY HOME", he emphazises "I became a wrestler because I wanted to be strong. I want to be particular about strength, I do not want to lose to anyone."
Nomura is one of the wrestlers who has the scent of the "Good old Showa", including the concept of "Ebisuko*", a wrestler who eats and drinks well, and patronizes Salometil*. Although he was born in Heisei, he values Showa, and of course Reiwa. He says "I want to become stronger, and to be strong, in a new or old way has nothing to do with it. I would like to incorporate all the history, all the traditional methods and the new methods which I think he is good."
Nomura is from Tochigi, and his family line is said to stretch back to Nasu no Yoichi. 835 years ago Nasu no Yoichi, a master of the bow and arrow, was ordered by Yoshitsune Minamoto at the Battle of Yashima, to shoot through the fan on the Heike ship which was more than 70 meters ahead, which raised the morale and led to victory. Yochi said he had only one arrow, saying "Be alert, if there are two or more". This is exactly the "arrow hitting the target", but with a "one shot". Nomura aims to be a strong wrestler, who defeats his opponents with a single blow.
The journey to explore the strength of Nomura's "Strong Quest" has just begin. There will be many walls and slopes, but the immediate goal is the BJW Strong Heavyweight belt. With a heavy kick with increased weight, and the bridging suplex that is as bright as a rainbow after rain, he aims for the top of Big Japan Pro Wrestling. For Takuya Nomura, who has an intense "Fighting Spirit" and "an arrow that hits the target", the day when the large flower blooms is near.
